Resistance training boosts sport performance
It should come as little surprise that different sports require us to move and adapt in varied ways. In addition to whatever cardio and cardio cross-training makes the most sense for your sport, it is essential to train your muscles and nervous system to support you and react appropriately as you scale up in distance, volume or speed.
Fundamentals of strength training
Strength training begins with a foundation of stability and muscle activation: only when everything is aligned and moving well can we perform at our best. This is important even if you consider yourself a non-athlete, since a solid, well-activated foundation is essential for everyday movement and reducing your risk of injury.

Meet your coach
Jillian
I love coaching and training athletes. Sports push us to our mental and physical limits and there is so much to learn about ourselves in this process.
I have been an athlete my entire life (three sports in high school, NCAA division two basketball) and I am thrilled to have found endurance sports in adulthood. Running is my absolute favorite. I welcome the challenge cycling and swimming brings, most days (ha!).
I compete in triathlon at the Olympic and Ironman 70.3 distance, as well as running races in the 10K-half marathon distance (including trail and road). A run career highlight was my first successful completion of the Pikes Peak Ascent (2010).
As a coach, I consider it a privilege and a duty to provide well-rounded programming and focused education of my athletes around all of the moving pieces that equate to successful training. This includes specific and periodized training, a focus on nutrition, as well as rest and recovery.
I am certified as a UESCA Endurance Run Coach and have my BA in Kinesiology, in addition to various movement and fitness accreditations from ACE, USA Weightlifting and Yoga Alliance.
